A Marshall County Circuit Judge seeking re-election has been kicked off the Republican Party's primary ballot. Judge Howard Hawk switched from the Democratic Party to the GOP in December of 2010. At the time, the move was approved by state party officials, but the Marshall County Republican Party Executive Committee voted a month later to ask Hawk to remain a Democrat. The committee and Hawk presented their cases in Birmingham Tuesday to the Alabama Republican Party steering committee, which then voted to take Hawk off the ballot.
