The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Fort Payne man on second-degree assault. 45-year-old Charles Clayton Todd is accused in connection with a woman who was badly beaten and her bed set on fire at her home in Broomtown. The victim called 9-1-1 early last Thursday and Todd was found that night in woods off County Road 60 in the Broomtown area. He was being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center on a cash bond of 150-thousand dollars.
