Just like the state as a whole, local unemployment rates dropped in March. Alabama's jobless figure was down for the eighth month in a row, from seven-point five to seven-point-three percent. Closer to home, Marshall County went from seven-point-six percent in February to seven-point-one in March, DeKalb from nine-point-seven to eight-point-nine, Etowah, seven-point-eight to seven-point-one; Calhoun, eight-point-one to seven-point-six, Cherokee, eight-point-one to seen-point-two and Blount, seven-point-two to six-point-five.
