A teenager drowned in a Cherokee County lake on Saturday afternoon. Sheriff Jeff Shaver says 17-year-old Joshua Woods of Centre was with a group of friends at Weiss Lake, north of Cedar Bluff. The sheriff says Woods jumped off a pier into nine feet of water and did not know how to swim. The sheriff's office, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and the Marine Police assisted in recovering the body.
