Two arrested in deputy attack

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department has arrested two people wanted for an assault on a deputy and is looking for two others. The attack happened Saturday night during a traffic stop on County Road 814. One of the suspects, 42-year-old Joseph Xavier Register, allegedly stole a piece of recording equipment from the deputy. That helped authorities track him down to his home in Fort Payne, where he admitted to having a meth lab. Also arrested at that time was 26-year-old Patrick Gourdine of Flat Rock. Still at large are 31-year-old Joseph Michael Jenkins of Higdon and Elisha Edward Goins.
