Attalla police say a man armed with what turned out to be a pellet gun made up a story about his granddaughter needing surgery as he held up a check-cashing store. The robbery happened around 10:30 Tuesday morning. 65-year-old Irby Joe Richey, the alleged robber, was seen leaving Cash-In-Hand on Gilberts Ferry Road in an older model red pickup. That vehicle was spotted about two hours later behind Babe's Lounge on U.S. Highway 11 and Richey was arrested when he came out of the establishment. He was charged with first-degree robbery with bond set at 10-thousand dollars.
