Citing a city ordinance signed back in 1947, Albertville officials have ordered a shooting range to be shut down. Tactical Shooters, which is outside the city limits but inside police jurisdiction, has been the target of nearby residents who've complained about noise from the facility. Marshall County decided not to do anything about it because of a state law that exempts shooting ranges. But the Albertville ordinance pre-dates the state law. The ordinance could also affect those who hunt outside the city but inside the police jurisdiction. Mayor Lindsay Lyons says he will ask the city council to address that situation at next week's work session.
