An inmate at the Cherokee County Detention Center was found unresponsive in his cell on Friday morning. Sheriff Jeff Shaver says 50-year-old Ronald Atkins of Centre was later pronounced dead by the coroner. There were no signs of foul play; an autopsy will be performed.
